On the Third Anniversary of the Russian Invasion, Prime Minister Highlights Lithuania's Continued Support for Ukraine
Marking the grim third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas highlights Lithuania’s unwavering support for the attacked country and its people, as well as the shared commitment to a just and lasting peace.
"Lithuania knows the invaluable worth of freedom and the importance of solidarity with those who fight for it. For three years of full-scale war, Ukraine has been doing just that, and it has been defending itself against Russia’s open aggression since 2014. We stood with the people of Ukraine then, and we stand with them today. Over all these years, support has been mobilised not only by state institutions but also by civil society. Numerous initiatives, aid campaigns, and the involvement of organisations and individuals alike demonstrate both compassion and our own ability to unite when it truly matters. This speaks volumes about us as a society and a state – we are much stronger than we sometimes tend to believe.
War is a time when everyone loses something, and many lose everything. Yet, even in this reality, Ukraine has not lost—and will not lose—close friends like Lithuania. Our nations share a common goal: a just and lasting peace in Europe, one that cannot be achieved by appeasing the aggressor or imposing dictates on the victim. That is why Lithuania will continue working with allies and partners to pursue not a temporary or fragile peace, but one that ensures security and stability," said Prime Minister G. Paluckas.
