Prime Minister extends greetings to Czech Republic on Independence Day

Head of Government Ingrida Šimonytė has extended greetings to the Czech Republic on its Independence Day, celebrated on 28 October. In her letter of greetings to Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala, Prime Minister noted that Lithuania appreciates the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries as well as their joint efforts to strengthen the NATO Alliance and to build a peaceful and secure European future.

“Lithuania highly values the Czech Republic’s contribution to the Air Policing Mission and to NATO’s Enhanced Forward Presence in the Baltic states. We are looking forward to working together to further strengthen the eastern part of the Alliance”, reads Prime Minister’s letter.

According to Prime Minister, continued unity in supporting Ukraine and in strengthening the sanctions against Russia and Belarus are of utmost importance as we seek sustainable peace and Europe which is not susceptible to aggressor’s blackmail, and we count on our cooperation in responding to other challenges posed to democracies by authoritarian regimes.

“Let me take this opportunity to congratulate you on the Czech Republic’s remarkable progress while presiding over the Council of the European Union at a particularly difficult time and wish you a successful end to your tenure”, said Prime Minister.
