Prime Minister: it is our duty to stand together with Ukraine
Marking the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė highlights the heroic resilience of the Ukrainian people in defending what matters most and reaffirms Lithuania’s unwavering support for Ukraine.
“For four years now, the world has witnessed the Ukrainian people’s resistance to brutal aggression. This war is testing not only cities and infrastructure but also human endurance, faith, and the ability to remain true to oneself.
When your homeland is attacked, defence is no longer a choice. Ukraine does not fight to be seen as heroic—it fights because its survival and freedom are at stake.
As we mark this date, let us remember not only the immense price Ukraine pays every single day. Let us also remember what this nation shows to the world: that resilience can be stronger than fear, culture stronger than violence, and that truth—even when suppressed for a long time—ultimately becomes a force in its own right.
Lithuania’s support for Ukraine remains firm. We stand with Ukraine politically and through military, humanitarian, and expert assistance—and we will continue to do so until Ukraine prevails. For its victory is directly linked to the security of Lithuania and that of Europe as a whole.
It is our duty to stand together. To see Ukraine not as a distant front line but as an integral part of Europe’s future. And to remember that freedom is not a given—it must be defended every day.
May this day of remembrance, filled with sorrow and respect for the fallen, always be associated with our firm resolve to be to the very end with those who fight for the right to be free,” said Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė.
