Prime Minister meets participants of Create Ukraine

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė met at the Office of the Government with Ukrainian participants of the Lithuania-initiated Create Ukraine programme to hear their experience, discuss Lithuania’s broad support for Ukraine, the resilience and ties between the two countries, and Ukraine’s European integration path.

Create Ukraine was launched after the successful example of Create Lithuania. In Lithuania, participants gain an in-depth understanding of the country’s reform experience and acquire practical knowledge in areas such as reform implementation, attracting investment, and improving public sector efficiency.

“Lithuania believes in Ukraine’s future, which depends greatly on motivated young professionals who are committed to their country, have international experience, and want to strengthen Ukraine’s public sector. This is the foundation for strong democratic institutions and Ukraine’s future EU membership. Lithuania, in its turn, has supported Ukraine on its path and will continue to do so as long as it takes,” said Prime Minister Ruginienė.

As part of the Create Ukraine programme, several dozen highly qualified specialists have already returned to Ukraine: the first 10 young professionals from the pilot project were recently joined by a second wave of 25 specialists.

Among them are experts in EU sanctions policy, project management, and international marketing, returning from Western Europe, Japan, the USA, Canada, and other countries. Working in Ukrainian institutions, these professionals build on the experience gained in the EU and other international organizations.

As Prime Minister Ruginienė emphasized, the acquired knowledge, experience, and human networks represent the best investment in Ukraine’s future.

The pilot project Create Ukraine was funded by the European Union and the Lithuanian Government, and at the current stage, it continues as financed from the Lithuanian Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid Fund. The programme is implemented by CPVA in cooperation with the Ukrainian Government and the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
