Prime Minister meets with Ambassador of Turkey to Lithuania
Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė met on Friday with Esra Toplu, Ambassador of Türkiye to Lithuania, to discuss the bilateral relations, regional security, and opportunities for cooperation in the defence industry and other sectors of strategic importance to both countries.
“Partnership between Lithuania and Turkey has been growing across various fields, yet we still have considerable untapped potential. The defence industry is one of those fields where our cooperation could be particularly valuable,” said Prime Minister Ruginienė.
With hybrid threats becoming an increasingly common feature of today’s security environment, innovative defence solutions and joint development efforts are of particular relevance, the Prime Minister noted, pointing out that Türkiye has a strong and advanced defecse industry and expertise that Lithuania is keen to learn from. Lithuania, for its part, is ready to offer favorable conditions for partnership and investment — cooperation that would benefit both sides economically while also enhancing regional security.
The meeting also highlighted opportunities for closer cooperation in trade and investment, high value-added technologies, and tourism. The Turkey–Lithuania Chamber of Commerce, established last year, is expected to support this progress.
Turkey can serve as a significant exports and investment partner and an important gateway for Lithuania into the wider region.
