Prime Minister to the Participants of 'Create Ukraine': Working for Your Country is the Most Meaningful and Motivating Thing

On Thursday, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė met with the participants of the Lithuanian-initiated Create Ukraine programme, which is modelled on the successful Create Lithuania programme. During the meeting at the Government, the participants discussed the meaning and characteristics of work in the public sector, the importance of state institutions – especially regarding Ukraine's recovery and Euro-integration processes – and other topics.

"The highly successful Create Lithuania programme was of course not created in the dramatic circumstances that Ukraine finds itself in today, but in the 12 years that it has been running, it has proved its worth, helping to bring back to Lithuania a number of talents. I believe that the example of Create Ukraine, based on Create Lithuania, can become a much-needed success story for the country. From my own experience, there is no greater meaning and no stronger motivation than to work and to create for one's country. This is work for the most important 'shareholder' – society – and for the benefit of each of its members", said Prime Minister Šimonytė.

Launched earlier this year, Create Ukraine aims to encourage young Ukrainian professionals to return from abroad and work in Ukraine's public sector. As the Head of Government added, Ukraine's institutions face crucial tasks that will shape the future of the country: ensuring the functioning of the state in wartime conditions, facilitating its reconstruction and recovery without waiting for victory, and leading the country to full EU membership. This requires strengthening the capacity and motivation of the public sector.

Lithuania will continue to be a strong supporter of the Ukrainians and will contribute whatever it can to Ukraine's victory over Russian military aggression, without which sustainable peace in Europe is impossible, as well as to the restoration of an even stronger and more prosperous Ukraine, the Prime Minister emphasised.

Prime Minister Šimonytė, who shared her experience in the discussion, encouraged the participants of the Create Ukraine programme visiting Lithuania to believe in their own capabilities and to have no doubt that everyone – regardless of gender, origin, or other characteristics – can contribute to the well-being of their country.

During the two-day visit to Lithuania, the participants will become acquainted with the community and good practices of the programme's Lithuanian counterpart and meet with representatives of the country's institutions.

The Lithuanian programme is administered by the Central Project Management Agency, while in Ukraine it is implemented, selected, and staffed by the Kyiv School of Economics Foundation and the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy.
