Prime Minister’s greetings to Belgium celebrating National Day
Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas extends greetings to the Kingdom of Belgium celebrating its National Day on 21 July.
Lithuania greatly values the strong ties and close cooperation between the two countries, stressed Prime Minister in a letter to Mr Bart De Wever, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium.
"From joint efforts in advancing energy and technological resilience to our shared commitment to the green transformation, Belgium remains an important and trusted partner.
We are grateful for Belgium’s consistent contribution to the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battlegroup in Lithuania and its active participation in the NATO Air Policing Mission in the Baltic States. Belgium was the first country to send in air policing fighter aircraft when Lithuania joined NATO in 2004 and continues to do so. This is a meaningful expression of solidarity that reinforces deterrence and strengthens security across our region and the Alliance as a whole," said Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas.
In today’s turbulent times, unity among like-minded nations is more vital than ever, he added.
"Lithuania and Belgium continue to stand firmly together in support of Ukraine, upholding international law, and countering aggression. By doing so, we not only defend our shared values of democracy and freedom but also help shape a more secure and principled Europe. I look forward to continuing and deepening our cooperation—bilaterally, as well as within the EU, NATO, Benelux-Baltic, and other formats," said Prime Minister Paluckas.
