Strategic partnership discussed by Prime Minister and Poland’s Foreign Minister
Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė has met with Poland’s Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau to discuss the bilateral relations and economic cooperation and ways to strengthen them, the development of joint infrastructure projects, Lithuania-Poland cooperation to address regional security issues and the challenges of irregular migration, also Eastern Partnership, and the European Union’s relations with Russia.
The Prime Minister of Lithuania and the Foreign Minister of Poland have welcomed the excellent bilateral relations, voicing their commitment to keeping up the momentum.
The Head of the Lithuanian Government has thanked Poland for its assistance in evacuating translators who had assisted Lithuania, and their family members from Afghanistan.
‘It was an exemplary joint mission completed by the military and diplomats of our two countries’, said Ingrida Šimonytė.
The Prime Minister has also thanked Poland for its solidarity and support in the face of the challenges of irregular migration.
‘The geopolitical and security situation in the region requires the closest possible cooperation between Lithuania and Poland in the field of security and defence’, said Šimonytė.
The Lithuanian Prime Minister has pointed out that the Belarussian regime continues to pose a threat both to its citizens and to the EU as a whole.
Russia’s aggressive policies have also been discussed.
The Prime Minister of Lithuania and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland have noted that the Polish minority in Lithuania and of the Lithuanian minority in Poland play an important role in bringing the two countries closer together.
